Point Fermin Lighthouse

This graceful Victorian-style building surrounded by colorful flower gardens, is one to the oldest lighthouses on the west coast. It was built in 1874 and served as an aid to safe passage between the Channel Islands and into the harbor for nearly one hundred years. More about the lighthouse here and another view here.

  1. Super photo - what a 'quaint' lighthouse! Not the industrial style of most lighthouses. Thanks for so artfully sharing this piece of history.

  2. Excellent composition, Lori! What a fantastic old lighthouse...when I saw the thumbnail I thought it was an old house with some kind of strange growth on the top...but then you 'splained it!

    Have a great week.

  4. ...and who says LA doesn't have history! I think the Palos Verde Peninsula is way underrated. Blindfold a tourist and drive them to one of the many bluffs overlooking the channel, take of the blindfold and they would think they think they were somewhere along Hwy 1 in Central Cal.
