Three projects to help reduce bacteria levels are underway at Cabrillo Beach. The fine sand that has retained bacteria in the past is being replaced with coarse sand that has better drainage qualities. The rock jetty at the northern edge of the beach is also being removed. Additionally, a structure designed to prevent birds from landing on the beach will be constructed. The work is expected to be completed by the end of June.
